Stanislav S. (known as Fraunhofer Diffraction) is a producer and DJ based in Moscow, Russia.

Born into a musical family, he learned to play the piano at an early age, also attending music school for four years when he was young. Disappointed in musical education, he began playing drums in a school rock group.

Over the years, black metal and ambient became his favorite genres of music. But after some time, he realized the limitations of these genres and came to electronic music. The lack of a combination of aesthetics and aggressiveness of black metal and the atmosphere of ambient in electronic music drove him to create something of his own.

In a style closest to witch house, he created Fraunhofer Diffraction in 2012. He developed his music over the years, experimented with genres and recorded techno and lo-fi house albums, and now, inspired by classical music and especially sacred minimalism, he brings these ideas and principles to his project, continuing to develop the genre and the style.

BEHIND THE MUSIC:
In writing this album, I wanted my music to convey several complexities of The Outlaw Ocean: the composure of the sea, the horror of the crimes, and a sense of responsibility and urgency. The overall tone of the music is meant to evoke an encouraging mood, but one that is slightly aggressive in the seriousness of the issues at hand. 

The chapter that most moved me in writing my music was “Sea Slavery” because of its extreme and cruel stories of deckhands working for next to nothing depict the worst crime in human history.

incredible, dark, atmospheric, melodic. totally did it for me. The Blake poem in alternating creepy beauty and the beast vocals in Stray is the climax for me, but I love the whole album. My first Witch House album and excited at the possibility there might be an even better Witch House album out there but right now I can't see how, this album rules. Warlust
